A few quick observations on #OpenAI's chatbot, as an AP history teacher.
1) when asked to produce an essay, it is structurally sound and doesn't have any mechanical flaws.
2) it typically writes a thesis, but that thesis is often too general to score points on the test.
3) it does a shockingly good job of developing analytical categories
4) it does a remarkably poor job of mobilizing specific evidence. (It would fail a DBQ.)
